 Energy Code Changes Postponed

Implementation of the revised Washington State Energy Code (WSEC) has been delayed by at least 120 days. The new WSEC was to  have been adopted on July 1, 2010.

Proposed changes include additional energy efficiency requirements and air leakage testing. Some sources estimate the code changes could add several thousand dollars to the cost of a new home.

Designers / architects, building officials, builders, subcontractors and homeowners will need to become familiar with the code changes and the interpretation of the new codes

Look for our article on Project Managing - specifically women as project managers.  Three of our female homeowners are featured and describe their (very successful) experience acting as the general contractor for their cedar home.  The title of the magazine article is:  "Women Contractors - Git R Done and Save."

Interested In Computer Designing Your Own Home?

Some of our clients are using computer design programs to help them visualize their projects.  One of the most user-friendly computer programs is Google SketchUp -- and it's free!

"Google SketchUp is a free, easy-to learn
3D modeling program with a few simple tools to let you create 3D models of houses, sheds, decks, home additions, woodworking projects and even space ships. You can add details, textures and glass to your models and design with dimensional accuracy."  (From Google.com)

This is a good application to convey your preliminary design ideas.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Unlocking Our Dream"

Cedar Home Construction
Laura & John McGrath were owner / builders for their custom cedar home.
Cedar Log Cabin
1,400 s.f. home has been designed for a future second level addition.

Mike and Judy Flanagan were the key to unlocking our dream of designing and building a home of a lifetime. Without their patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to providing information, insight and guidance through the entire custom home process, from conceptualization through construction, we would still be just dreaming. As trying an experience as being an owner/builder is, we have many wonderful memories and would in fact love to do it all again. We're sure that result has as much to do with our relationship with Mike and Judy as it does with anything else.
