Laminated Timber

This 6 x 8 D-log timber is milled with a curved exterior surface and flat interior wall surface. Each timber has a double tongue & groove. The laminated timbers are both screwed and glued for a tight stable wall. Virtually no settling or shrinking! Due to the stability of our wall systems, no chinking is required between the timbers - and no seasonal adjustments are required for expansion and contraction.

Enjoy the Beauty of a Log Home - Without the Settling Hassles! Print E-mail

Log Cabin in SnowThank you for your interest in our custom cedar homes! Our cedar homes are unique in the log home industry because we use decorative grade laminated cedar wall timbers. The laminating process eliminates much of the core moisture and allows for fast wall assembly - without the excessive settling that can happen in traditional log homes.

Our timber walls require only 1" of space above doors and windows (just like a conventionally-framed home). A handcrafted log home can require anywhere from 6-8" of space above doors and windows - to allow for settling. Our construction system requires no adjustments for seasonal expansion and contraction. With our laminated wood wall system, our customers enjoy all the beauty of natural wood without the hassles!

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Unlocking Our Dream"

Cedar Home Construction
Laura & John McGrath were owner / builders for their custom cedar home.
Cedar Log Cabin
1,400 s.f. home has been designed for a future second level addition.

Mike and Judy Flanagan were the key to unlocking our dream of designing and building a home of a lifetime. Without their patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to providing information, insight and guidance through the entire custom home process, from conceptualization through construction, we would still be just dreaming. As trying an experience as being an owner/builder is, we have many wonderful memories and would in fact love to do it all again. We're sure that result has as much to do with our relationship with Mike and Judy as it does with anything else.

In-floor radiant heat, a European masonry heater and re-milled old growth fir beams make the McGrath home truly unique.
